Joshua Tree is the desert elopement that fits a weekend. Two hours east of Los Angeles, the park sits where the Mojave and Colorado deserts meet: granite boulder piles, forests of twisted Joshua trees and sunsets that turn everything orange for twenty minutes.
Why elope in Joshua Tree
It is close, it is otherworldly, and it works for every kind of couple. Hikers scramble boulders at Hidden Valley. Couples who would rather not hike can be married fifty feet from the car at Cap Rock. And when the sun goes down, the sky does the rest.
Where the ceremony happens
- Cap Rock, the classic permit site with Joshua trees and boulders in every direction.
- Hidden Valley, a boulder-ringed basin reached by an easy loop trail.
- Keys View at sunset, looking over the Coachella Valley to the Salton Sea.
- Private desert homes and venues in Joshua Tree and Pioneertown for a small dinner after the vows.
What to know before you book
Heat decides the calendar. From May through September we only shoot at sunrise, and even then it is warm by eight. October through April is the season, with cold nights that make a campfire or a hot tub at a rental feel earned. Weekends in the park are crowded, so a weekday ceremony gets you a quieter site.
How we work here
Joshua Tree is covered by our Adventure collection with no travel fee. We scout the ceremony site for your date, handle the park permit, and plan sunset and night portraits around the moon phase.
